SILVI The Artist: A Bold New Voice in Contemporary Art

I was born in the coastal city of Burgas in Bulgaria, a place where the sea, history, and quiet strength shape both character and imagination. My connection to art began in early childhood, driven by constant curiosity and questions like “How was this made?” and “How can this be expressed?” I have been drawing since kindergarten, and some of my earliest works still exist today as a reminder of where everything began.

Although I graduated from a Spanish language high school, art was never something I left behind. After finishing school, I was accepted into the National Academy of Art, where I studied Poster and Visual Communication (Graphic Design) and later completed a second degree in Theory and Practice of Art Education (Pedagogy). Entering the academy without a background from an art high school placed me in a highly competitive environment, but despite the challenges, I graduated with excellent results.

A major turning point in my journey came when I became an assistant to the renowned Bulgarian artist Georgi Andonov. Working alongside him opened my eyes to what it truly means to be a professional artist in the contemporary world, not only creatively, but also in terms of discipline, responsibility, and sustainability. I began creating my own works in my studio and, almost instinctively, started sharing my creative process on social media.

What began as simple documentation of my work unexpectedly resonated with thousands of people. The videos, the raw process, the imperfections, and the honesty behind each painting reached a global audience. This is how SILVI The Artist was born, organically, through social media, and gradually evolved into a recognizable artistic identity. Today, SILVI is not just my name; it is a growing brand that brings art, emotion, and inspiration into the lives of many people around the world.

For me, art is not simply painting. It is a path toward inner peace, the same path that defines my life.

The Influence of Bulgarian Culture on SILVI’s Work

I was born and raised in Bulgaria, a land where history is not something distant or abstract, but something you feel in everyday life. It lives in the language, in the rituals, in the music, and in the quiet strength passed down through generations. Growing up in the coastal city of Burgas, surrounded by the sea and ancient landscapes, I developed a deep sensitivity to place, memory, and continuity.

Bulgarian traditions have always played a subtle yet powerful role in shaping my inner world. From seasonal rituals and folk celebrations to family gatherings tied to ancient customs, these moments carry a sense of grounding and belonging. Holidays such as Baba Marta, Kukeri, and Nestinarstvo are not just visual spectacles, they are symbolic acts connected to renewal, protection, balance, and the invisible forces that shape human life. These traditions taught me that art, like ritual, has the power to transform energy, restore harmony, and connect the physical with the spiritual.

Bulgarian history is layered, complex, and resilient. As a nation, we have survived centuries of upheaval, preservation, loss, and rebirth. That endurance is deeply embedded in my artistic mindset. I am drawn to contrasts, strength and fragility, chaos and control, movement and stillness, because they reflect the historical and emotional depth of this place. Bulgaria carries a quiet intensity, a restrained power, and an emotional density that cannot be easily explained, only felt.

Living and working in Bulgaria is a conscious choice. I believe that staying connected to one’s roots creates depth, authenticity, and inner stability.

Bulgaria gives me a sense of identity that anchors my creative freedom. It allows me to move forward while remaining connected to something older and larger than myself. My art is contemporary, but its emotional foundation is deeply rooted in this land- its history, its traditions, and its enduring spirit.

The Role of Art in Personal and Community Healing

Art has always been a healing force for me. Through painting, I process emotions, uncertainty, transformation, and inner tension. When a work is created honestly, it carries emotional truth,  and that truth reaches the viewer.

I believe art has the power to calm, to reconnect people with themselves, and to offer a moment of stillness in an otherwise fast-moving world. Creating something meaningful and emotionally sincere brings me peace, fulfillment, and balance.

Connecting with the Global Art Community

Social media became the bridge between my studio and the world. Through these platforms, my work found its audience naturally, without intermediaries. This direct connection allowed SILVI The Artist to grow into a living ecosystem, one built on trust, consistency, and shared emotion.

Connecting with people across cultures confirmed my belief that art speaks a universal language.

A Distinctive Style Rooted in Emotion

My artistic style emerged naturally through years of searching, experimenting, and stepping beyond my comfort zone. I have always admired artists who create with confidence and movement, artists who allow energy to guide the process.

This led to the appearance of fluid paint splashes from which controlled figurative forms emerge. I describe my style as Abstract Splash Figurativism, a balance between spontaneity and intention. The paint moves freely, beyond full control, choosing its own direction. Once it dries, it reveals what it has become. From this abstraction, a deliberate, controlled figure appears.

This duality reflects life itself. We rarely have complete control, yet within uncertainty, we shape meaning. That tension is where beauty lives.

Bulgaria’s Rising Contemporary Art Talent

I know Bulgaria has a powerful contemporary art voice, and I am proud to be part of its rising generation. I believe my work carries both modern aesthetics and deep-rooted identity, a combination that feels increasingly relevant on the global art scene.

The Future of SILVI The Artist

I am sure that a bright future awaits me on the international art stage, and I am actively working to make it a reality. I have ambitious goals: solo exhibitions around the world, meaningful international collaborations, and continuous artistic evolution.

What began as a personal journey has grown into SILVI The Artist, a brand built on authenticity, discipline, and creative integrity. I want the people who supported me early on to feel proud of their belief, knowing that the works they collected will continue to gain artistic and cultural value over time.

Exploring Themes of Identity, Freedom, and Transformation

My work explores identity, freedom, emotional transformation, and inner growth. These themes reflect not only my personal experiences, but also universal human processes, becoming, letting go, and reshaping oneself through change.

A Modern Approach to Creativity

I believe inspiration does not come from waiting in front of a blank canvas. It comes from action, from working, experimenting, failing, and pushing boundaries. True growth begins the moment we step outside our comfort zone.

I am not afraid of failure. Every mistake is a necessary step toward mastery.

Why SILVI’s Art Resonates Today

My art resonates because it is colorful, emotional, and unapologetically modern. It carries a sense of controlled spontaneity, individuality, and movement. In a world searching for authenticity, i believe my work offers both energy and balance.

Conclusion

I am grateful to be leaving something meaningful behind, art that brings joy, reflection, and emotional connection. Creating gives me peace, purpose, and fulfillment. Through my work, I continue to explore, evolve, and share a part of my inner world with others.

This is not just my artistic journey.

This is SILVI The Artist.

  1. Hi Silvi 🙂

this post says a LOT! 😀

I especially like your “bold” attitude, and also that you write in the “first person” (which I feel is very authentic). Although the captions are written from a “third person” perspective, they are not so *front and center* (but rather you + your artwork itself).

    🙂 Norbert
